Gear Review: Liquid Logic Mullet Whitewater Kayak

Value Rating: 10 Durability Rating: 9 Overall Rating: 10 Location of Test: PNW rivers Duration of Test: 3 months Product Name: Mullet Product Brand: Liquid Logic Best Use: Whitewater, capable of whatever rapids you can throw at it Liquid Logic Mullet The Full Review: It was named the Mullet because its "Business in the front and Party in the back." Meaning the bow was built for boofing and crushing through big rapids and the stern has some slicey fun to it for doing squirts and pivot turns. The Liquid Logic Mullet is the big brother to the Braaap and are both cousins to the Dagger RPM. The biggest difference is both of these boats have more volume and a way better rocker profile than the RPM. The Mullet is for the person who might feel a bit big for the Braap. The Mullet has a semi-displacement hull which means you still have very rounded edges, but it does flatten out just a bit under the seat to give you that great initial stability. Displacement hulls are great for whitewater creaking where cross currents are coming non-stop from every which angle. And the Mullet excels is the area of handling very dynamic currents. The other added benefit of the Mullet is the rocker profile. It has just enough to get you up and over features, and not enough where it’s going to slow you down and effect your tracking. Again, it’s all business in the bow. Liquid Logic Mullet The other great feature of this boat is the low volume stern. This is for having fun doing stern squirts and pivot turns. If you drop that tail into an opposing current with enough angle, you’re going to be looking at the sky for sure. (You can see this in one of the pictures). Secondly, pivot turns allow you to load up water on the tail for quick maneuvering in and out of the main current. If you are in the correct weight range for this boat, it is quite responsive. Liquid Logic Mullet Lastly, the "Bad Ass" outfitting is known for is comfort and durability over years and years of use.
The Good: Can handle hard whitewater Semi-displacement hull (good for creeking and river running alike) Good bow rocker (great for boofing and getting over holes and features) Slicey Stern (have fun with stern squirts and pivot turns) Comfortable "Bass Ass" outfitting Durable boats made in the southeast, capable of being beaten up Can handle a higher weight capacity The Bad: Slicey sterns can trip up beginner boaters The Bottom Line: The bottom line is the Mullet is the best of both worlds. Business in the front, Party in the back. It can run hard whitewater with the rest of them and have some slicey fun in between rapids. Its made for the paddler who might be on the higher end of the weight range for the Braap. This is a great boat to have in your quiver if you're a PNW or Southeast creeker. This boat is confidence inspiring and an absolute blast to paddle. Liquid Logic Mullet
