It's Volcano Season In The Pacific Northwest
While most people acknowledge that there are 4 seasons in a year, a recent study performed by the Next Adventure Institute for Higher Shredding, has, in fact, confirmed what passionate outdoors persons of the Northwest have been claiming for years: there is actually a fifth season, known colloquially as volcano season. Overlapping with all other seasons, volcano season is the ideal weather for alpine touring, splitboarding and hot laps in the terrain park. There are bluebird skies and soft snow for those who are willing to earn their turns, strap on their skins, and keep shredding all year round. It’s scientifically proven!
In the Next Adventure bargain basement, we don’t let warm weather end our ski season. Instead, we cling onto our beloved snowsports, surrounded by splitboards and touring skis, like doomsday preppers with their canned goods. However, we’re not hoarding them, we’re sharing them because there is nothing better than spring skiing with friends. The Next Adventure Institute for Higher Shredding, better known as the rental and tune shop, has an incredible selection of Spring sliding tools for rent in our demo fleet. It doesn’t matter if you’re a big mountain pro looking to demo something new, or if you’ve never heard of alpine touring (hiking uphill with traction on your skis or snowboard and riding down), we have the gear for you, and our rental technicians/scientists are happy to help inform and outfit you with the setup you need. If you have any specific questions feel free to call ahead or pop in the shop, we love talking about this stuff.
We could spend all day telling you about the lightweight design of the Salomon MTN 88’s, or the rocker profile of the Dynafit Chugachs, but if you’re a gearhead like we are, you’d probably just like to read it for yourself:
In addition to the wide variety of alpine touring skis we have available, our demo fleet also contains a full-size run and more of the Voile Spartan Splitboard:
Also, for the first volcano season ever, Next Adventure is offering rentals for avalanche gear like beacons, probes and shovels, with options in every category.
Finally, if you’re not into doing both hiking AND skiing we have some other options. Our demo shop has a huge fleet of mountaineering equipment available including ice axes, crampons, helmets and mountaineering boots, perfect for bagging any of the local summits. For the skier or boarder who just wants to rip sunny laps at Timberline, we have a variety of ski and board demos available, perfect for cruising or jibbing. Any way you want to enjoy the volcano season, we have you covered! So, break out the park boards and the jib skis! Strap on the skins and switch on tour mode! It’s time to start hiking, climbing and sending! Happy volcano season!
