The Full Report:
Paddle Oregon is an amazing trip that the Willamette Valley River Keepers put on every year. There were at least 200 people that attended in 2018 when I went. The event is well run with so much planning down to every last detail. I assure you that if you go you will be well taken care of! For this trip, we put in at Junction City, Oregon and took out at Wallace Marine Park in Salem. It’s about 85 miles of paddling over the course of a week. Everyone can pick a group that has a similar pace, so no one feels left out. On the trip, you split up into different pods of 10-15 people. Each pod has 2 pods leaders who help with safety and navigation on the trip.
Over the course of the week, you will get to paddle many miles on a beautiful river with lots and lots of sunshine! You will see birds, fish, turtles, and other wildlife. Throughout the day you will find wonderful spots to pull off and have a nice picnic. There are also many cool back channels to go explore which is always fun! Oh....did I say that this trip it catered? Yup...BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND DINNER are all proved for you! And the food is amazing! I remember we had shrimp and steak one night...it was awesome! They also shuttle all of your bags for you, so you don't have to pack it all in your kayak. This really is an amazing trip. That I would recommend to anyone who loves being on the water!
