Trip Report: Tom Dick and Harry Mountain

When: 01/28/2017 Location: Tom Dick and Harry Mountain Conditions: Low 30's and clear skies Duration: Single Day Difficulty: Moderate Kid Friendly: Yes Pet Friendly: Yes Useful links: OregonHikers.org Tom Dick and Harry Mountain The Full Report Myself and two friends decided to hike Tom Dick and Harry Mountain at sunrise. This hike is known for its spectacular views of Mt Hood. You can also see Rainier, Helens, Adams, and Jefferson from the top. Tom Dick and Harry Mountain We lucked out with perfect conditions. Nice temps and just enough clouds in the sky to provide all the colors imaginable. The hike itself is a straightforward in and out. During the summer, you park at a turn out close to Government Camp. For the winter season you park at Ski Bowl and hike along 26 for a bit. Tom Dick and Harry Mountain Snowshoes or traction devices are recommended. The snow can be compact and icy in the trees and the last third is steep as you climb up the mountain. This is a busy hike and if you can manage the 3 am wakeup call you'll skip all the fuss and your time at the top will be a great quiet moment to reflect on how beautiful nature is.
