Gear Review: Gerber Shard Keychain Multi-Tool

Value Rating: 6 Durability Rating: 10 Overall Rating: 7 Location of Test: My home Duration of Test: 3.5 seconds Product Name: Shard Product Brand: Gerber Best Use: Prying things that I would normally use my finger nail for. Size: 2 3/4 " or 7cm Gerber Shard The Full Review: The Gerber Shard. This little tool is rad! It comes equipped with a Philips/flathead screwdriver, nail pry, keychain loop, and most importantly, bottle opener! It comes in the standard Gerber black color, but I mean come on, if you’re buying it from us at Next Adventure then you gotta go with the blue Next Adventure custom one. This tool is beautiful and it contrasts nicely with my orange key carabiner. Classy. Gerber Shard Gerber Shard The most used tool on it for me has been the bottle opener. Sadly, it does take a bit of focus to make sure you get the classic lip style under the right divet on the bottle cap or you can’t get it to do its job. I mean it takes me 1 second to open a beer with a D shaped bottle opener and it takes me 1 second to open a beer with a lighter. This thing takes a whopping 1.5 seconds to open a beer with. Besides the barely inconvenient time it takes for me to open my local craft beer, this tool actually surprised me when my bathroom sink drain cap shut and I was unable to lift it back up with my fingernail. I literally said out loud to myself, "Oh I bet my shard can fix that." And it did. And that was the moment this little tool earned a spot on my keychain.
Gerber Shard
The Good Its light, Next Adventure custom blue model is dope #represent, nail pry tool is deceptively useful for other things, it opens my beer for me. The Bad: It takes too long to open my beer and nine times out of ten ill opt to use the "other" bottle opener on my keychain. The Bottom Line: Custom edition keychain multi-tool only available at Next Adventure. And Gerber is also pretty dope, so yeah, if you're looking for one more awesome thing to add to your key collection, go for it.
