Video How To: Set up and use tent footprints, groundsheets, and tarps to stay dry.

Seth from Next Adventure gives some useful tips on how to use tent footprints, groundsheets, & tarps to help you stay dry on your next camping adventure. While the floor of your tent may be made of a waterproof material, long-term exposure to moisture combined with the pressure of sleeping campers can still force water through the membrane, leaving you wet and cold in the morning. The addition of a simple groundsheet can make all the difference.
- Hello, Welcome to Next Adventure how-to's, my name is Seth. Today we'll be talking about tent footprints and ground sheets. Tent footprints are a fabric that's cut to fit a certain tent design with attachment to that tent body or a regular blue tarp groundsheet could also be used. We also have the ability to get you a piece of Tyvek for custom tent shapes and odd sizes. One advantage to getting a footprint that is designed to fit your tent is that there's often a way to make your tent lighter by leaving the tent body at home and just traveling on your adventure with the rain fly and the specific footprint that matches that tent. We do also offer the traditional small blue tarp. We need to make sure that our tent footprint is, in fact, smaller than the tent body. If your tent footprint comes out wider or is a bigger footprint than your rain fly and we start to get some rain that's coming down on the tent, what's gonna end up happening is that water rolls off the rain fly and lands on the tent groundsheet and then can, oftentimes, travel under the tent making you wet from underneath. The pro move is to make sure that your tent groundsheet is smaller than your tent footprint and that can be done as easily as just simply folding it under to make sure that it does not come out wider than the tent body. Just by tucking it under and making a go away, all the water that would drip off is just gonna land on the ground not on that groundsheet therefore not going under the tent keeping you much drier and looking like a pro.
