Experience the best of land and water on our overnight kayak camping excursion to Sand Island. The group will meet up at Scappoose Bay Paddle Center. Here our awesome guides will be ready and waiting to share their love of local history, wildlife and paddling skills. After a short briefing, the group will disembark for the two-hour paddle north to Sand Island. Once on the island, we will set up camp and enjoy dinner together. After dinner enjoy an optional nocturnal paddle to the pristine and treasured Cunningham Slough or perhaps a little exploration of the Washington shore of the Columbia River. After breakfast the next morning, we’ll break camp and make our way back to Scappoose Bay.
We’ll supply a tent, basic meals, and water. Participants will need to bring along their own packable sleeping supplies including a sleeping bag and pad as well as any items needed for personal comfort and enjoyment including any additional food or snacks. There are pit-toilet facilities on the island.
